Kettle Freaks | Our Story

Getting into grilling and not knowing literally ANYTHING can be a challenge. I’m not just talking about grilling some burgers on a gas burner. REAL barbecue with smoke, wood, fire, different types of charcoal, meat prep, the list goes on. I had my first child and quickly discovered this may be one of the last hobbies I can enjoy for a long time. So what did I do? I turned to Facebook for help.

I joined tons of different groups that were specifically catered to barbecue fanatics. The learning became fairly simple but I quickly noticed many problems. For one, most folks can agree that the internet is full of trolls. When you’re learning, the last thing you want is for someone to put you down. These barbecue groups not only were full of hot-headed people, but they were also full of spam. Something could be done better, and I wanted to initiate the change.

My name is Mike, and I started Kettle Freaks in October of 2018. Kettle Freaks was originally intended to just be a Facebook group page to help people learn (Without the trolls and spam). The group took off so quick and I became absolutely obsessed with it. I started to think of ways I could provide another level of service to my fellow foodies. 

Within a few months of starting the Facebook page, I started selling t-shirts with barbecue related themes. The shirts started selling just as fast as my Facebook page was growing, so I also became obsessed with my new business that I never envisioned would come into fruition. Ever since, I have expanded the product range from shirts, but also hats, magnets, stickers, and even an exclusive Whiskey Barrel Wood product.

I will never give up looking for the best designs or products to help grillers find an outlet for expression. Why stop at Facebook when you can not only share it, but you can also wear it?
